Apollo Beach - This may or may not come as a surprise, but (surprise!), ALDI has submitted plans to renovate about half of the Winn Dixie store off US 41 to become Apollo Beach’s first ALDI location…

If you work there, I hope you’ve been given fair warning of the possibility of this happening to your store. Aldi seemed very upfront with their plans to convert many stores, but not sure how they planned to announce which stores would be impacted…I have no idea as to the timetable of events…

If you did not know, ADLI recently purchased Winn Dixie stores in March of this year and is now moving forward with plans to convert some existing WD’s to ALDI with this being one of the 1st I’ve heard about…

Converting half the store obviously leaves the other half to be leased…a space that is very deep and quite large, so tenants may be limited to things such as gym or trampoline park…

FYI - the old Winn Dixie at US 301 and Boyette Rd is now a Planet Fitness and BRAVO with the old WD on Bloomingdale & Kings an Urban Air Trampoline Park…

And Germans sure are efficient…running a smaller operation carrying limited items provides for far less waste than a full-sized store and on top of that, they now have another 20k sf feet of leasable space…
