Winthrop submits future expansion plans

Riverview - Winthrop (south side of Bloomingdale Ave between Providence Rd and Watson Ave) submitted rendering of future plans.

All these uses have already been approved as part of the original rezoning, so no public hearings will be necessary to begin construction.

Phases 2, 3, 4, & 5 will include 276 proposed Multi-Family units (apartments), 16 work/live units, and 12 detached single-family homes…not sure where the annual Fireworks / Christmas Tree tent will be relocated to…

And no idea of any time-table to when Phase 2 construction will begin or how far down the road Phase 5 plans are, but it’s always nice to know what to expect (…or is it?)

More apartments…on Bloomingdale Ave…LOL…folks, once this is built out, there will be 1,160 NEW Multi-Family units on Bloomingdale Ave between Watson Ave and US 301…This is all in less than 2 miles traveling east to west:

276 Apartments here - Bloomingdale and Watson (South of Bloomy)
90 DR Horton Townhomes - Bloomingdale and Watson (North of Bloomy)
120 affordable units - Lake Bluetail- Bloomingdale and Providence
352 apartments -Summerall - Bloomingdale and Old Twig
322 apartments - Integra Palms - Bloomingdale & Simpson

Fact is - Our County has known Bloomingdale to be an F-rated road for over 10 years now, but why should that stop 1,100 more units from being built?

Anyone remember the Reversible lanes fiasco of 2017? Bloomingdale Ave is THE perfect example of gov’t lip-service IMO…they’ve known there is problem here for years now, but have done nothing about it but continue to approve even more growth making the situation even worse…

I feel for any who relies on Bloomingdale Ave…as I do daily. They will never widen it, so don’t even ask…we did 7 years ago and look what we got!
